Masterclass Overview
This Natural Cosmetics Masterclass has been designed
to guide companies through the maze of natural & organic cosmetic
standards, focusing on the technical, formulation and
ingredient issues involved. The masterclass is for cosmetic
manufacturers, formulators and ingredient companies looking at adopting
natural & organic standards.
The masterclass will comprise two
interactive workshops....
Workshop 1: Critical Review of Natural & Organic Cosmetic Standards
Feb 20th, 1400-1800
The
first
workshop will start with presentations from some of the leading natural
& organic cosmetic standard organisations in Europe and North America:
BDiH (Cosmos), NaTrue, NSF, NPA. The workshop leader will then compare
and contrast the major international standards. A comparative assessment will be undertaken in which the prohibited /
allowed cosmetic ingredients will be reviewed, followed by the technical
& formulation issues involved. Features of the
workshop:
> What are the precise details of the new European
Cosmos natural & organic cosmetic
standards?
> What are the details of the NaTrue standard, and other standards
like Ecocert, SA, BDiH?
> What are the details of American standards like OASIS, NSF, and
NPA?
> What are the differences between these standards?
> What are the practical implications of adopting these different standards?
> What is the process to get a cosmetic product / ingredient get certified?
> What are the technical issues concerning ingredients,
formulations, etc.?
> What guidance can be given to companies looking to adopt these
standards?
Workshop 2: Challenges in Formulating Natural & Organic Cosmetics
Feb 21st, 0930-1330
The
second workshop will look specifically at the
technical issues and formulation challenges companies face with natural
& organic cosmetics. This workshop is designed for cosmetic
manufacturers and ingredient companies looking to understand and
overcome the challenges when developing green
formulations and using natural and organic ingredients.

> What synthetic chemicals are typically absent in natural & organic
cosmetics?
> What are the natural replacements to these synthetic chemicals?
> What are the major classes of natural & organic cosmetic
